January is a time of decisions: What questions to prepare for the Wedding Fair in February?

The Wedding Fair, which will be held from February 6th to 8th at the Zagreb Fair, is not only a place for inspiration – it is also a tool. Coming to the fair is an ideal opportunity to ask important questions in a timely manner to those who have the experience and solutions.

Most newlyweds do the same things in January: gather inspiration, create mood boards, and count down the months until their wedding. But what will ultimately determine whether the day is flawless or full of minor frustrations is almost never on that list. That’s where the difference between a beautiful space and a space that actually works begins.

Ivana Škrlec, director of the rental company Altera, who is in daily contact with newlyweds through space planning and event production, suggests not coming to the fairs in February just to look for inspiration, but with a clear list of questions. Interestingly, those that are almost never asked, but later become crucial.

Ivana Škrlec reveals three questions that newlyweds almost never ask (but should):

1. How will guests feel in the space – all day and all evening?

Aesthetics are important, but comfort is what is remembered. The temperature of the space is often taken for granted, although it can make the difference between a relaxed evening and an uncomfortable one. Temperature also affects flowers, desserts, and food if it is on a buffet. The question of heating and cooling the space is crucial, especially for tents, pavilions, and industrial spaces that are not classic halls.

2. Will guests be able to move freely, dance, and linger in the space?

The size of a tent is often chosen solely based on the number of guests, but the real feeling of comfort comes from the way the space is used. The relationship between tables, dance floor, bar and communication passages directly affects the dynamics of the evening. A well-sized tent and a properly planned dance floor allow the space to “breathe” without crowds, narrow passages or a feeling of emptiness. When functionality is well-designed, guests move naturally, relax more easily and the party develops spontaneously.

3. How will the lighting affect the experience of the space throughout the evening?

Newlyweds almost always ask if there is lighting in the tent, but much less often do they think about the impact it will have on the entire event throughout the evening. Lighting not only affects the appearance of the space, but also the atmosphere, photos, video and the feeling of comfort. The way the space is lit at dusk, during dinner and later on the dance floor can completely change the impression, from warm and elegant, to cold and empty. When lighting is thought out in advance as part of the set design, the space maintains the same feeling of quality and comfort from the first moment to the last.

Come to the Wedding Fair in Zagreb from 6th to 8th February and in pavilion no. 5 at the Zagreb Fair, take the opportunity to ask direct questions and talk to Altera representatives. Instead of making impulsive decisions, use the end of January to prepare your checklist, and let the Wedding Fair in February be the time to “work it out” wisely.
